- Bridges, tunnels, railways, and highways are all expensive to
build and maintain. They are also easy “targets” for natural
disasters and terrorist alike. View the point below:
- You never have to dredge a harbor, bay, lake, or river for a
Hovercraft to operate.
- You never have to fill in a pot hole, resurface, paint lines, or
maintain traffic lights on bodies of water.
- You never have to worry about a Hovercraft getting hit by a
train when crossing the tracks.
- The ATLAS Hovercraft is diesel / electric powered, has the
lowest emissions possible, the lowest noise possible, and unlike
other conventional ferries it does not take anything from the water
and it does not discharge anything back in.
- ATLAS Hovercraft not only operates in total harmony with the
manatee and other sensitive marine life and water fowl, but we work
well with local fishermen and other marine related businesses.
- The ATLAS power plant can run on Bio-Diesel and has ZERO harmful
emissions.
- A Hovercraft can service any port or destination.
- A Hovercraft has no worry for “liquefied earth”, “mud slides”,
or “washed out roads”.
- Only a Hovercraft Ferry could operate with speed and efficiency
after a natural disaster like an earthquake.
- A Hovercraft Ferry can go places conventional boats can only
dream about.
- The ATLAS Hovercraft carries its own “boarding system” and does
not require a conventional boat dock or ferry terminal.
- The ATLAS Hovercraft is the only “self dry-docking Vessel” in
the world.
- Because of the speed and efficiency you do not require a “string
of ferries” to get the job done.
- A Hovercraft is safer than even a conventional boat during a
“seismic event” as it is immune to explosions and subsequent
vibrations as well as potential wave action.
- After 9/11, the ferry ridership in New York doubled and then
tripled over night.
Our Hovercraft Design: The 100% composite construction is
stronger than steel, does not rust, and maintains strength in extreme of
temperatures from the desert to the arctic. The composite materials are
fire-resistant and do not conduct electricity. The hull and cabin
structures are made from advanced composite materials that are less than
1/3 of the weight of steel.
ATLAS Hovercraft Inc. designs Heavy Lift Hovercraft Platforms that
can carry exceptionally large payloads. Such platforms are typically
used for oil exploration and drilling in remote locations such as
swamps, seas, and frozen lakes. Unlike similar Hover Platforms, the
ATLAS product can be self-propelled. We use 100% diesel / electric
propulsion which significantly lowers noise levels and cost while
increasing safety and reliability.
Our Braking System: Instead of using rudders to direct air flow,
ATLAS Hovercraft has created air blowers or “Thrusters” that rotate to
move the propulsion force in the desired position. This system is called
“Thrust Vectored Propulsion” or “TVP,” which provides a braking system
by controllability and the ability to slow and stop the craft. We have
the ability to rotate a full 360 degrees, stop, and then take off in any
direction. The Hovercraft can also move sideways or hold its position
during high wind conditions.
Our Skirt: A critical element to a hovercraft is the skirt. The
skirt is a barrier fastened to the upper edge of the hull to maintain
the air cushion upon which the boat actually rides. The skirt design
ATLAS has developed, built, and tested made them a “no wake” vessel.
